Following a rigorous application and assessment process, the proposal for John Keats Primary Free School, a new school for Southwark was recently approved by the Department for Education.
John Keats Primary Free School, proposed by the existing John Donne School in Peckham will now work towards opening in September 2018, catering for 420 pupils and a nursery class. The school will work as part of the Communitas Education Trust and will provide first class, creative education for its students.
The Communitas Education Trust has been set up by the governors of John Donne Primary School to enable the development of a group of schools in Southwark and surrounding areas, gathering around a shared vision.
Serving the community is a core feature of our vision. We work collaboratively and build strong working relationships across schools in the MAT, nationally and internationally. We have partnerships with Goldsmiths University, London South Bank University, Southwark Teaching School Alliance, Education Development Trust, British Council, University of Thessaloniki, University of Las Palmas, Judicium, FAME (accountancy services), LAMDA, Royal Academy of Music, Topmarks sports coaching and development and Bacons College sports outreach programme.
John Donne Primary, graded outstanding by OfSTED, is situated in the heart of Peckham, South London. It serves a vibrant and diverse community with high levels of aspiration.
Pupils achieve better than the national and local average in all subjects in Year 6. In 2015 it was placed in the top 500 primary schools for achievement and top 1% for progress, with an average level of 5C in the KS2 SATS tests.
